Abstract

A new electronic scheme for harmonic elimination in low voltage level circuits is proposed. The performance of this scheme in the context of robustness to additive noise is evaluated. The scheme is based upon the cancellation of harmonics from actual signal by comparing it with the pure fundamental harmonic. The fundamental signal could be locally generated or could be extracted from the polluted signal using filters. The output of this comparison is subtracted from the original signal to retrieve the required sinusoid. The basic concept used holds for high voltage power systems as well; however, its implementation requires major modifications. This paper presents the outputs for a locally generated sinusoid scheme and schemes with band pass Butterworth, Chebychev, and Elliptic filters, for sample signals with and without noise.
