Abstract
A fast, simple, and efficient method based on the Whittaker, Kotelnikov, Shannon (WKS) sampling theorem is proposed for the design of M-D arbitrary magnitude, linear-phase, FIR (finite impulse-response) digital filters. The structure of the method allows the use of a priori information in the design. The main feature of the method is its ability to dissociate, to a great extent, the complexity from the order and dimensionality of the filter. Some design examples are provided. The results are compared to those of the optimum minimax approximation.
