Abstract

The single-stage boost inverter configuration is an essential system for renewable energy applications. In this paper, a new nine-level inverter topology with a step-up feature has been presented and discussed in detail. With the use of 11 active switches along with two switched capacitors, a twice voltage gain has been achieved with a lower voltage rating of all devices with their blocking voltage magnitude either equal to or less than the input voltage. The advantages of the presented configuration are followed up by comparative analysis. The proposed topology features fewer device counts, cost-effectiveness, improved efficiency, and lower device voltage stress. For the switching scheme, phase-shifted-based modulation is incorporated. For proper validation of this work, experimental results have been demonstrated through various load and operating conditions.
