A meta-analysis approach to examine the research issues in the area of electronic trading

Abstract

This paper describes the research methodology for examining the emerging research issues in the area of electronic trading. This description is within the context of research methods commonly used in the field of IS and IT. The aim of this paper is to develop an argument for an appropriate research methodology in financial markets area, which takes into account: the literature review and analysis; the range of potential research methods that could be applied in this context; and the strengths and weaknesses of the potential research methods. Based on the discussion made within this paper, it was concluded that Meta-Analysis would give the broadest view of the problem domain and its potential solution. Therefore, this paper contributes by providing a clear basis for employing Meta- Analysis as a methodological approach to examine area of electronic (online) trading.
