Abstract
As the most promising technology for CO2 capture from power plant currently considered, chemical absorption is facing the challenge of high capital and operating costs, which makes it hard to be commercial. In this paper, we put forward a novel low-cost scheme for Xinjiang 500,000 t/y CO2 capture project and made the basic assessment for the economic performance. Results showed that the capital cost and operating cost in this novel scheme are 165.5 million yuan and 147.4 yuan/tCO2, respectively, 20 and 25 % lower than those of conventional flow sheet using MEA-based absorption.
