Abstract

A linear goal programming optimization model, with a set of nine goals, is proposed in this paper to aid in the efficient management of integrated municipal solid waste systems. The use of the model has been illustrated using hypothetical but representative data pertaining to a typical integrated municipal solid waste system such as the one proposed for the City of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The results of model solution will provide management with information regarding issues related to the management of municipal solid waste systems such as the extent of deviations from targets set for the goals.
