Abstract

A complete 123 macro that finds the numerical solution of a two-dimensional vibrating membrane problem is described. The numerical method is based on an explicit finite difference approximation. The 123 program allows initial and boundary conditions to be entered directly into the spreadsheet and the numerical solution is obtained by pressing a single key. This important feature will allow the user to easily experiment the model problem with various initial and boundary conditions.
