Abstract
A novel broadband substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna is designed at V-band (60 GHz) for high gain 5G applications. The antenna consists of a truncated square patch having tiny square slots along upper and lower edge of the patch. The antenna size is 5.2×5.2 mm 2 . By putting via-through-holes along the four sides of the truncated patch, an SIW cavity is achieved. This cavity helps to obtain a wide impedance bandwidth and high gain by suppressing the surface waves. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 15% (56.2-65.2 GHz) and simulated peak gain of 7.76 dBi is achieved.
