The Technical and Economic Potential of BIPV Systems Considering the Climatic Conditions of KSA

Several concerns face the Gulf area nowadays including energy supply sustainability. This significantly affects all aspects of life considering the current heavy reliance on fossil fuels. This research considers this problem as an opportunity that could be invested to encourage people using solar energy to generate electricity. The proposed research project investigates in depth, using parametric computerized modelling, how to integrate PV systems into building fabric considering KSA climatic conditions and architectural needs and requirements. It also focuses on the economic benefit that would be achieved using Building Integrated PV (BIPV) systems.
