Description
Power efficiency of wireless communication infrastructure is a crucial concern in modern communication systems. Several research activities focused separately either on circuit level or network level solutions to enhance the efficiency of wireless communication systems. In this work, a novel approach is proposed for the assessment of the energy efficiency in wireless communication infrastructure. Accordingly, an overall analysis of the wireless communication infrastructure is performed by simultaneously considering the circuit and the network levels. Real data related to the operating conditions of local field deployed base stations will be acquired and processed to study the network aspects. Moreover, various power amplification circuits for wireless transmitter infrastructure will be benchmarked in terms of their predistortability and power efficiency. Data from the circuit and network levels studies will be combined to provide an overview of the power efficiency performance of the considered power amplification circuits and evaluate the suitability of these circuits for green communication infrastructure while taking into consideration the network operating conditions after deployment.
