Description
The purpose of this study will be to compare the influence of mixed hypo-caloric intake and an interval walking training in single, pair and group settings on body structure, physical performance, speed walk and metabolic factors among obese males. Sixty obese healthy males (BMI = 30 to 34.9 kg / m2) aged 18 to 23 years from Dhahran and the nearby area will be distributed into three equal groups (n = 20 each). These groups will be called exercising and dieting in singles-1 (EDS-1), exercising and dieting in pairs-2 (EDP-2) and exercising and dieting in groups-3 (EDG-3). Before and after the training period, the body structure (age, H, BM, OBM, BMI, %BF and FFM), the physical performance (800m run / walk), the speed walk (50m) and the metabolic factors (TDFI, TDEE, TDER) will be measured. The training program will be 10 weeks, 3 times per week for 30 min per session. All the training groups will walk with maximum speed for 50m and walk back the same distance slowly (20 times). The subjects of EDS-1, EDP-2 and EDG-3 will exercise and eat in singles, in pairs and in groups, respectively. The SPSS version 20 software will be applied as a statistical tool for the analyses of data. The means and the standard deviations will be calculated for all groups. The paired t-test will be used to identify any significant differences for each group independently comparing pre and post-tests for all the dependent variables. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) will be used to distinguish between groups at pre, post and post minus pre-tests. The significance level will be set at P 0.05.
