Description
INTRODUCTION
Morbid obese students face lot of health problems and experience lot of injuries during aerobic training programs i.e. ankle pain, low back pain and knee pain. (World Health Organization, 2016) globally increasing prevalence of obesity due to rising physical inactivity. (Rocky Snyder, 2015) reveals that strength training can burn fat in ways that other exercise cannot. Moreover, intense exercises such as weight training may burn calories and fat for a longer time post-exercise than lower intensity aerobic exercises. (ACSM, 2001), Caloric cost of resistance exercise for 70 kg male involved in vigorous weight training, and 6.0 METs or 7.2 kcal/min, for 60 min weight training, and 7.2 kcal/min = 432 kcal . (Daniel A. Hackett & et al, 2018), reveals that volume plays an important role in resistance training program for improving muscle strength.
The purpose of this study: The purpose of this investigation is to find out the influence of varied intensities of resistance training on health, physical and physiological variables among morbid obese males.
Objectives of this study
1. To design, employ and administer the varied resistance training protocol on the morbid obese males
2. To improve the health of the morbid obese students by reducing body mass index and waist & hip circumference.
3. To improve the fitness level among the morbid obese students.
4. To find out the influence of varied resistance training program on morbid obese male participants on the selected health, physical and physiological variables.
5. To find out the significant differences between the varied resistance training i.e. (low, medium, high intensity resistance training groups and control group) with regard to selected health, physical and physiological variables.
6. To find the most effective and best-varied resistance training exercise for advising and recommendations.
METHOD
A group of (N=60) subjects will be selected randomly to take part in this study. The age of the participants will be 18-24 years, Morbid obese males attending classes in physical Education course at KFUPM, Saudi Arabia will be consider to undergo the varied resistance training program for 12 weeks, two days in a week, 45 minutes of training per session. The subjects will be segregated into four groups namely Group-A (N=15, low intensity of resistance training), Group-B (N=15, medium intensity of resistance training), Group-C (N=15, high intensity of resistance training), Group D (N=15 control group). The tests (pre and post) considered for this study is as follows; health variables; body composition, waist & hip ratio, physical variables; muscular strength, muscular endurance, explosive power, and flexibility, Physiological variables; Resting pulse rate, breath holding time and cardio-vascular endurance.
Statistical application
To compare the mean differences from pre to post-test between all the four groups analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) will be used to find out the significant differences, whenever the F ratio for adjusted test will be found to be significant, Scheffts post hoc test will be used. The level of significance is fixed at 0.05 level and computed by the help of SPSS 16.
