Description
Introduction: Underweight individuals face lot of problems in increasing muscle size and also increasing body weight and fitness levels. Resistance training plays a very important role in increasing hypertrophy of the muscles one and all in general. Mostly bodybuilders concern about increasing overall size of the muscles from neck to calf. For increasing of the size of the muscles; technique, proper diet and rest is essential. Earlier mostly research studies focus only on overweight and obese personals and underweight subjects were neglected in the past and there is very few research studies had been done on underweight category. (American college of sports medicine, 2009) stated that the resistance exercise for healthy adults provides program design recommendations for muscle hypertrophy. Muscle actions that are concentric, eccentric, and isometric are required for resistance training adults at all levels of progression. Multiple-set training is recommended over single-set training. The most effective programming that optimizes hypertrophy in trained individuals involves high loads, short rest intervals, and moderate to high volume. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of low. Medium and high intensity of resistance training on the selected health related fitness variables among underweight males. Objectives of this study 1. To design an effective resistance training program for underweight males 2. To supervise, implement and administer the Training programs on the underweight males 3. To find out the influence of resistance training on underweight participants on the Muscular hypertrophy and selected health related fitness variables. 4. To find out the performance between the two groups i.e., (experimental group and control group). 5. Results will be analysed for advising recommendations Method A group of (N=40) subjects will be selected randomly to participate in this study from the classes of Physical education, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia. The age of the participants will be 18-24 years, Only Physically fit participants will be consider to undergo the resistance training program for 12 weeks, two days in a week, 45 minutes of training per session. The subjects will be segregated into two groups namely Group-A (n=20, experimental group), Group B (n=20 control group). The tests (pre and post) considered for this study is muscular hypertrophy (neck, chest, arms, forearms, thighs, calves, hips, waist, and shoulders); health related fitness variables are as follows; body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, Flexibility and cardio-vascular endurance. Statistical application To compare the mean differences from pre to post test, mean, standard deviation, and t-test will be computed by the help of SPSS 16. Data will be analyzed and presented in the form of tables and will be discussed and explained in detail.
