Project Details
Description
The purpose of the project is to build and control different mechatronic systems designed for laser beam positioning and tracking in one and two dimensions. The first developed mechatronic system aims to align the laser transmitter and the receiver in 2 dimensional plane so as the laser beam enters in a very small, precise and sensitive area of the receiver. The second opto-mechatronic system will be designed to track the position of the laser beam and then redirect it to hit a very precise point in the desired plane with an error that does not exceed 0.1 micro-meter. Micro-positioning stick-slip stages and high-precision electrically-controlled mirror mounts will be used to realize the aforementioned objectives. New control algorithms will be developed and assessed to test the mechatronic systems in real time.
