Electrodeposition of polyaniline on porous substrate: Optimization of porous substrate, electrodeposition parameters and electrolyte for high performance electrochemical supercapacitor fabrication

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

In our previous supercapacitor project (INHE2105), entitled “Electrochemical Supercapacitor for Energy Storage”, we developed supercapacitors based on electrodeposited polyani...iline (PANI) using one type porous substrate; namely, a steel mesh. The optimum fabricated supercapacitor had a high specific capacitance of ~353 mFcm-2 in aqueous acid electrolyte. It obtained an energy density of ~26.4 μW h cm-2 at a power density of ~400 μWcm-2. However, there is room for improving the performance of the electrodeposited polyaniline-based supercapacitor by optimizing the porous substrate, like different mesh size of steel mesh, steel foam and nickel foam, electrodeposition techniques and parameters. Besides, from practical point of view, there is a practical need for using the gel, solid or ionic liquid electrolytes. As a result, this proposal is designed for the development of high performed supercapacitor based optimum polyaniline modified porous substrate and electrolyte.
