Efficient equalization of nonlinear multichannel systems

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

In satellite and optical communications systems, channel nonlinearities occur (e.g. amplifiers nonlinear distortions or optical fibers channel impairments) and hence standard linear channel equalization techniques are not any more the most appropriate solutions. In this study, we focus on the nonlinear equalization methods for SIMO or MIMO systems. For this prospect, we would proceed in three stages: (i) derivation of the performance bounds to better understand the inherent limitations of the problem and, in particular, to quantify the potential of the second order statistics to identify the considered channel parameters; (ii) development of efficient equalization algorithms taking advantage at best of the available side information, with comparison with the state of the art solutions; (iii) validation with real/simulated data, robustness assessment and tuning of the algorithms on-line implementation.
