Development of a Novel Air Gap Membrane Distillation Module for Water Desalination

The current research proposal is intended to improve the performance of an air gap membrane distillation (AGMD) system for water desalination. The work involve designing and fabrication of an innovative air gap MD module for an enhanced productivity. The enhancement in productivity is achieve through a major modification to the distillate chamber (air gap) of an AGMD module by installing object within the distillate zone. The installed object create local suction and turbulent wave in the distillate zone of the MD module, which consequently improve the productivity and energy efficiency of the system. Furthermore, a detailed experimental investigations of the proposed modified air gap membrane distillation system will be conducted to evaluate the system performance based on the variations in various operating and design parameters
