Dr. Md. Aminul Haque is currently working as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Construction and Materials (IRC-CBM) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). Before joining at KFUPM, Dr. Haque worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from September 2022 to September 2024. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering (construction materials) in 2022 from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China under the prestigious Chinese government scholarship CSC. B Sc (in 2008) and M Sc (in 2013) degrees were in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Dr. Haque's main research area are: 1) hydration reaction mechanisms, microstructural properties analysis and high strength performance design of low-carbon construction materials blended with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs); 2) use of contaminated waste as SCMs in cement concrete; 3) Long-term durability analysis of low-carbon cement materials through physico-mechanical and microstructural properties observations; 4) cement chemistry analysis using SEM-EDS, XRD, TGA, FTIR, NMR and nanoindentation tests; and 5) in future, Dr. Haque is interested to work on the solar heat storage capacity analysis and design of biomaterials-based low-carbon cementitious materials.
Moreover, Dr. Haque worked as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering, Leading University, Sylhet, Bangladesh from 2011 to 2022. He served there as an academician, head of the department and head of research and publication section. Till date, he supervised the research works of more than 50 FYP students of the undergraduate program including the Leading University and PolyU during the service periods.
