Academic Background
He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University. His doctoral research, supervised by Prof. Xiu Guangli, focused on the rational design of Nb2O5 and g-C3N4-based nanostructures for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. His master’s thesis, under the guidance of Prof. Xin Feng, explored the catalytic activity of carbon and nitrogen co-modified niobium oxide for water-purification.
Research Interests
Dr. Qaraah's research revolves around advanced nanomaterials and their applications in environmental chemistry. His primary focus is on the design and synthesis of highly efficient photocatalysts and electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction and water purification. His specific research areas include:
1. Nanomaterials Synthesis and Modification: Utilizing cutting-edge techniques to synthesize 1D, 2D, and 3D nanostructures with enhanced catalytic properties. His work often involves introducing oxygen and nitrogen vacancies to improve reaction selectivity in CO2 reduction processes.
2. Wastewater Treatment: Employing nanocatalysts for the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in water, with an emphasis on visible-light-driven processes.
3. Heterostructured Catalysts: Dr. Qaraah has extensively studied S-scheme and Z-scheme heterojunctions, constructing complex nanostructures that enable efficient charge transfer for photocatalytic applications.
