The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Aviation & Space Exploration (IRC – ASE) will be King Fahd University’s (KFUPM) premier space sciences research facility and one of the preeminent university laboratories in the Kingdom for space research. It will be at the forefront of the development of new technologies and approaches to advance space-based research. It will create a scientific, innovation-focused, and technical environment in view of the expanding business and innovation opportunities offered by space, aviation sectors which would serve multiple strategic goals of Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by localizing aviation and space related activities, developing Saudi Human Capital in space, augmenting national resilience, and promoting national identity by enhancing the Kingdom’s presence at the international level. 
 
IRC - ASE supports students, faculty, and other customers utilizing small satellite resources designed, developed, and tested within the center. Collaborations with Saudi Space Commission (SSC) and other premium institutes in the Kingdom will provide the necessary support to develop space infrastructure, fostering globally competitive ecosystem and growing Kingdom’s space presence. 
 
The center will address various research challenges under focus areas of Space Systems Design & Testing, Remote Sensing & Data Analysis, Small Satellite Design and many more. This will create a conducive environment for high-end space research and favorable desired outcomes.
