As with the Department of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering is one of the oldest engineering departments at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). Chemical engineering is defined as a profession that uses mathematics, physics and chemistry for the benefit of humanity. Chemical and physical principles are used to design processes and turn raw materials into valuable products to improve the life of the average person. The department comprises 25 different areas, such as basic thermodynamics and chemical dynamics that control interactions and use physical transfers, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer. In addition, the department is one of the largest at KFUPM in terms of the number of undergraduate students.
